If you haven’t yet seen Better Friends Than Mountains, click here to stream or download it. If you have, we hope that it stirred your heart. We pray that having seen through the eyes of Kurds, those who are ministering to them, and the Lord who loves them, you are asking yourself, “What Now?"
There are three ways you can immediately and directly get involved and have a meaningful contribution that will impact the nation and the people of Iraq.
One of the primary reasons we produced the film was to encourage people that regardless of your present location or vocation, you can and should move to Iraq. It is not a closed nation. And it is a privilege to love and serve the people who live there. Don’t be afraid to ask the Lord if He wants you to go. And don’t be afraid if He says yes. There are a number of options for those who are open to going.
If you are blessed to be a member of a mission-focused church or denomination that offers training and sending opportunities, prioritize Iraq and begin moving in that direction.
If you are between the age of 18-30 and want solid training for long-term ministry in the Muslim world and a committed community to run with, consider applying for the next ACTS School at the Antioch Center for Training and Sending. There is no other training that we would more readily recommend for potential missionaries to the hardest and darkest places of the earth.
Maybe you aren’t ready to commit long term to ministry in the Middle East, but would like to invest a six month season into learning more about the region first-hand while serving alongside those laboring there. Consider a six-month Internship with FAI in 2016. If you would like to learn more, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are a doctor, a dentist, a counselor, a hair stylist, or a high school drop-out and would like to join one of our short-term trips where relief work and evangelism are tethered together, email us at email@example.com.
Jesus said that wherever two or more are gathered He will be with them with an attentive ear and an outstretched arm. We encourage you to intentionally and deliberately gather people to pray for a continual opening up of a door for the proclamation of the Gospel in Iraq. As soon as you finish reading this article, get the ball rolling. Schedule it. Email your friends. Pray. In your churches, living rooms and houses of prayer, pray for Iraq.
A great way to provoke your community to prayer is to host a screening of the film. You can download the film and show it yourself or you can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will come to you show it and speak to your community. The film was produced for the purpose of fueling intercession in churches, Bible studies, houses of prayer and missions bases.
If you are a pastor or a leader, consider adopting the nation of Iraq as a priority in prayer for the next year. If you would like someone from the FAI leadership team to come and speak to your community on the issue, email us at email@example.com.
The harvest in Iraq is white and ready for the sickle. All that is needed to reap it is workers and resources to sustain the work. One of the greatest ways you can serve the advance of the Gospel in Iraq is to sow finances into those who are living and laboring there.
Consider becoming a monthly financial partner of FAI. In light of recent events and present opportunities, we as a ministry are prioritizing the nation of Iraq. Anything that is donated to FAI and earmarked “Iraq” will be given directly and immediately to workers in the region who are facing an endless barrage of needs.
We will not take a percentage of any of the funds that are designated “For Iraq.” Every cent will go directly and immediately to Gospel work among the people of Iraq.
