THE PEARL OF THE MEDITERRANEAN. Lebanon has been in constant conflict since civil war broke out in 1975. Her 6+ million residents have lived under the shadow of missiles, military rule, and air strikes for decades. Due to a porous border with Syria, many Syrians fled to Lebanon during their own civil war, bearing additional weight on an economy already crippled by corruption. Tensions continue to mount between these age-old neighbors as animosity grows amongst the Lebanese against the Syrians.
STAGING GROUND FOR TERROR. Hezbollah, a regional arm of Iranian-backed Shia terrorism, has staged its anti-Israel aggression in Lebanon since its formation in the 1980s. This has resulted in multiple wars and incursions, creating additional stumbling blocks for any Muslim-background Lebanese who comes to faith in the Jewish Messiah.
