THE FAI ARABIC LANGUAGE ACADEMY

Paul, the renowned apostle to the Gentiles,[1] carried the Gospel of the Kingdom across ethnic lines, cultural barriers, and linguistic boundaries to obey the commissioning of Jesus to, “make disciples of all nations.”[2] Not building on someone else’s foundation,[3] Paul traversed the Mediterranean basin to regions completely unreached by the news of Messiah, reasoning, "How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?”[4]

Later, while dealing with the crisis of charisms in Corinth, Paul also reminded them, “…if I do not know the meaning of the language, I will be a foreigner to the speaker and the speaker a foreigner to me."[5]

So weighty was this task of demonstrating and preaching the Gospel with clarity, that Paul wrote his sending community in Ephesus, asking for prayer that, "that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.”[6]

Compelled by the same command as Paul was, and commissioned by the same Jesus, we also must obey the call to make disciples of all nations. Pioneer missionaries must be equipped to exposit the Word of God, to proclaim the Word of God, and to lead others into the same redemptive ministry of Christ-exalting declaration—not as a foreigner speaking incomprehensibly, but as an ambassador giving an incarnate witness to the incarnate God
