In the opening session of the 2019 Alliance Conference Dalton Thomas framed the gathering with a journey through Exodus 6 and John 6 addressing issues of insecurity, insufficiency, innovation and impossibility. Dalton issued a charge to see and understand the rapidly changing global landscape and the escalating implications for the Body of Christ, specifically leaders.
”IT’S TOO LATE TO CATCH UP WITH WHAT GOD IS DOING; BUT IT’S A GREAT TIME TO LEAP-FROG.”
In the second session, Dalton Thomas addressed the issue of priorities by telling a little known story of one of the greatest pioneers of the last few centuries. He introduced 15 “leadership literacies” required for the emerging landscape of global missions.
”REFUSE TO NOT PIONEER.”
In the sixth session, Joel Richardson addressed the central hope that binds us together—the return of Jesus and the coming of His Kingdom. In an age of rampant confusion over Kingdom issues, Joel’s message was a clarion call to understand the heart, priorities, and promises of God on the earth in our generation and at the end of the age.
”EVERYTHING IS POINTING TOWARD THAT FUTURE DAY.”
LT. COL. (RES.) MARCO MORENO
In the seventh session, Lt. Col. (res) Marco Moreno spoke about our core ethos: love. Marco defined what love is and is not and why it must always be the bedrock of everything we do, why we do it, and how we do it.
In 2018, the FAI Board of Directors commissioned Martin Mallory (M. Div./M.S.W.; Director of FAI’s Member Care) to develop a “Leader Care Plan” for FAI to undergird the organization’s next phase of growth and development with the health and maturity of our leaders in view. While this session and the document address very in-house matters specific to the FAI family, we offer them as public domain in the spirit of “open source” for other ministries, organizations and churches to use as well.
”PRO-ACTIVE LEADER CARE MUST BE A PRIORITY TO ENSURE THE HEALTH AND EFFECTIVENESS OF FAI LEADERS, AND THE ORGANIZATION AS A WHOLE.”
During the final session, as the sun set behind the mountains surrounding the Sea of Galilee, Dalton Thomas laid out a vision that an international coalition of leaders have been laboring over the past few years concerning the future of the Church and the task of global missions. Dalton announced the official launch of MARANATHA, introduced the biblical foundations, defined the core commitments moving forward. At the end of the session, leaders from a number of ministries at the core of the vision testified to the implications of MARANATHA for their areas of operation and expressed their commitment to each other for the journey ahead. The website for MARANATHA will go live soon.
”WHAT BINDS US TOGETHER ALL OVER THE WORLD IS THE ‘MARANATHA’ ON OUR LIPS.”
